LOCS Kingfisher Trip 2009
On 23rd June LOCS again repeated for the fourth year running their popular King Fisher Trip.
Although no Kingfishers were seen a hugely fun time was had by 24 of us as we took two boats up the West Looe River and into the "jungle". The boats were skippered by Clark Barnham and Alan Dingle, and they helped make the time not only a wealth of knowledge of our local river, but also a safe trip into what was quite thick undergrowth. At times all 12 of us (in each of the two boats) were bent double down in the boats as branches twigs and leaves showered down on us. It was not easy for the skippers but they again got us safely to Shallow Pool.
At Shallow Pool wine was served along with sausage rolls and pieces of quiche, made by Marilyn Kirby. The two boats came along side each other and laughter was had by all. It really was a great time, and whilst a number of members suggested that we repeat it all again in August, we shall really have to wait until next year for the next LOCS trip. However any person in Looe can of course take a trip up the river on a Spring Tide with the boat men, by special arrangement. They will be only too keen to take you.
So here are photos of this years fun. All that was missing was the occasional crocodile, and of course the Kingfisher!
