2010 Summer Outings and Events

Besides the monthly programme, we also arrange Outings and Guided Tours.  Here are the planned events for 2010.  Other Outings are arranged throughout the year and will be posted on this web site.  Members will also be contacted when new Outings are arranged or dates fixed.   Please come along and support us. All members are very welcome.  If there is room, then please ask and bring a friend.

Fri  5th Mar.  St Piran's Day.  Come and join us in the East Looe "Rose Garden".  We celebrate with events, music and food from 11.00 am to 1.00pm.  If you can help we would be delighted.  If you have ideas then let us know.

Sun  7th Mar. Join us along with many other societies and supporters at Perranporth Sands, where there will be a procession through the dunes of over 200 people (weather permitting!), to watch three enactments of St Piran's life. This really is a fun time to see a small part of the original historic Cornwall along with much jolity. It all atarts about 1.30 and finishes by 4.00.

Fri  16th Apr.  Spring Evening Dinner at Kellys, East Looe, upstairs. 7.00 for 7.30 cost £9.00. This is a fun time and good fish and chips followed by a sweet.  Well worth it.

Sat  15th May.  Lappa Valley and Steam Rail.  This is a new outing for us. We'll arrive (in private cars), at 10.45.  A steam train then takes us to the mines where a guide shows us around. Cream Tea is included in the price of £6.50. This should be a great day out.  Don't miss it!

Wed  30th Jun.  Trelawny Day.  On our own back-door step, so well worth it!  Meet Pelynt Hall at 5.00pm where a short programme will be introduced by Carole Vivian, folowed by tea.  Cost £4.50.  This is followed by a service at Pelynt Church at 7.30.

Sat 3rd Jul.  Federation OCS Summer Festival.  Details to be announced.

Wed  14th Jul.  Cornish Orchards, Sandplace/Pelynt.  Another new outing for us and on our own door-step as well.  2.00 - 4.00.  Meet at the Orchard.  Cost £3.50. We'll be shown around the "factory" or at least where all the good stuff is made, as well as being able to see the many fields all neatly planted up in idyllic surrounds.

Crying the Neck....details and date to be announced.  Towards the end of August, and at the convenience of a local farmer we all meet in a cornfield overlooking the beautiful landscape of Looe, to cut the final neck of corn, have a short cornish ceremony followed by cider, safron cake and hot drinks.  Only £1.00.  You'll enjoy it.

Tue 24th Aug.  King Fisher Trip.  This is an annual favourite.  Even if you've been before you can be sure of a fun time. We take a short trip up to Shallow Pool, deep in the jungle and the everglades of West Looe River. Plenty of things to see, perhaps even a Kingfisher, although we'll have to be quieter than we were last year for this ellusive flash of blue and orange!  Meet 5.30pm at the West Looe Ferry steps.  Price £5.50.  We're back about 7.00pm.

4th Sept.  Cornish Gorsedd at St Ives.

Sat  18th Sep.  Looe Island Trip and BBQ.  By popular demand this is being run again. 24 of us went last year and unanimously requested we do it again!  Book early for your place.  The ferry can only take so many! Meet 1.30pm  at the RNLI Slipway, East Looe.  You'll be back about 4.30pm. Bring your own drink.  A barbeque is supplied. Cost £9.00, includes ferry fare and landing dues plus beefburger and sausage roll.

Sat  23rd Oct.  Autumn Evening Dinner at the Rivercroft.  7.00 for 7.30pm.  Price £13.00. This is a repeat of last year's highly successful meal.
